YoHo is an intriguing adventure tale of mystery, emotion, friendship and the sea. The novel, written by S L Wigmore , is about the incredible, but not impossible journey of Sapphire Turner, a little girl who doesn’t give up on figuring out what happened to her parents.
Sapphire is waiting for her pirate father to come home, he’s been gone for years, and has been living at a children’s home in the seaside town of Penzance these all those years. Others say he left her long ago, but Sapphire is still clinging to the hope that he will return someday. She’s determined and curious, and soon discovers that everything she believed about her family and her past is wrong.
As secrets start to emerge Sapphire embarks on a perilous and heartfelt journey past the shore. With loyal friends Jessica and Elijah, she has problems to solve, clues to find, and a world that is linked to pirates, past enemies, and secrets she can’t even fathom. Along the way Sapphire is getting nearer and nearer to the answers she has sought throughout her life.
YoHo is a tale of bravery, hope, loyalty, and trusting in those you love, it is much more than a pirate adventure. The novel’s emotional storytelling and thrilling twists, along with atmospheric seaside settings, draw readers into Sapphire’s world.
S L Wigmore is a passionate story-teller, her imagination is what led her to write her first novel, YoHo. S L Wigmore is a wife and mother who always finds time to breathe life into stories and characters through her writing. Storytelling to her is not just reading words on a page, it is getting to another world, experiencing new adventures, and getting in touch with emotions, imagination.
S L Wigmore has a passion for developing stories and imagining scenes from a very early age as if she were there experiencing the adventure as a part of it. The bond with storytelling eventually paved the way for the birth of Sapphire Turner, the courageous and determined young protagonist of the story, YoHo.
The idea for the story was inspired by the iconic pirate song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me” which was heard at the start of Pirates of the Caribbean. At that one pivotal moment, the world of pirates, mystery, hidden truths and ocean adventures just naturally flowed from S L Wigmore’s brain. In no time at all, Sapphire’s journey turned into a story about the heart, courage, friendship, and emotional discovery.

I was captivated by the pirate theme, the secrets in the novel, and the sense of adventure while uncovering all the untold parts of the story with Sapphire.
Very exciting read from start to finish and a wonderful story of hope, friendship and never giving up, Sapphire is such a strong and memorable character
The ocean, the pirates, the hidden places and the way to find the truth made me feel like I was a part of the adventure and S L Wigmore has created a world that is imaginative and full of heart.
YoHo is not a pirate story, but also a story about family, loyalty and the belief in hope when it seems impossible. I resonated with Sapphire's journey and loved seeing her find the truth.
